It can function as an introductory course for those who have had only minimal previous contact with the subject, but also as an in-depth course on these issues for sociology graduates. The course focuses on sociological concepts that are key to empirical and theoretical research, which emerged through the development of the science of sociology, as a result of the industrial-bourgeois revolution and the transition from traditional\/feudal to modern societies. Concepts of interest are, for example, social change and social reproduction, social behavior, social structure, social stratification, social conflict and social consensus, social cohesion, social development, division of labor, social identity, etc. To examine these concepts, classical theories that decisively influenced the formation of sociology (A. Comte, K. Marx, M. Weber) as well as more modern ones (K. Polanyi, N. Elias, M. Foucault) will be reviewed. Differences in starting points, conceptual tools and epistemological consequences between theoretical schools will also be highlighted, indicatively between functionalist and critical sociology. Furthermore, topical issues and examples from the field of political sociology will be used, with the aim of testing these concepts in current contexts.<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"class_list":["post-2053","course","type-course","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/soc.aegean.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/course\/2053","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/soc.aegean.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/course"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/soc.aegean.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/course"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/soc.aegean.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2053"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
