The course aims to introduce students to the principles and methods of statistical analysis applied to social research (education, health, unemployment, employment, social mobility, public opinion assessments, etc.). Part of the learning objectives is also to familiarize students with statistical methods of social data analysis and sampling strategies in order to enable a first critical understanding of the empirical material used by students and researchers for their work. Students will be taught, among others, the following methods and techniques, such as understanding attitude measurement scales (reliability analysis), multiple linear correlation and regression, the multivariate classical linear model, factor analysis, discriminant analysis, cluster analysis, stochastic models for the social sciences, population systems and human resource management, applications, time series analysis and forecasting, etc.
