On behalf of the teaching, administrative and technical staff, I warmly welcome you to the Department of Sociology of the School of Social Sciences of the University of the Aegean. Our Department consistently aims to develop critical thinking and promote the principles of social justice, equality and inclusion, through the evidence-based study of society and its changing dynamics. Among other things, issues of social transformation, inequalities, cultural differentiation, quality of life and a host of other issues that concern the modern world are explored.

Through an innovative and certified curriculum, interactive and student-centered teaching, as well as international research collaboration with leading universities, institutions and organizations, we seek to inspire the next generation of sociologists. Our goal is to produce knowledge that contributes substantially to positive social change. Our work fruitfully combines various sociological theories with empirical research on individual thematic aspects of social reality.

We encourage teaching and understanding through an interdisciplinary approach, with a particular emphasis on collaborations with local communities and civil society. We invite you to take advantage of the opportunities offered by our Department, to actively participate in academic and student life, and to develop your scientific knowledge and skills.
