With the participation of more than 300 conference participants from universities, research institutions and scientific bodies from all over Greece, the 10th Regular Conference of the Hellenic Sociological Society was completed with great success, which was held in Mytilene from 26 to 28 June 2026, with co-organizers the Department of Sociology of the University of the Aegean, the Hellenic Sociological Society (ESS) and the National Center for Social Research (EKKE).

With the theme "Sociology in the Modern World of Multiple Uncertainties", the conference was a field of fruitful scientific dialogue and knowledge exchange on critical issues of modern society, such as artificial intelligence, democracy, work, social inequalities, education, gender, migration, the climate crisis, cultural identity and transformations of the public sphere.

The event once again highlighted the extroversion of the Department of Sociology of the University of the Aegean and confirmed the ability of Lesvos to host major scientific events of a pan-Hellenic scope. At the same time, the presence of the conference participants strengthened the connection of the University with the local community and contributed to the cultural and economic activity of the city.

In addition to the scientific sessions, the program was accompanied by parallel cultural activities, with a large number of people, such as film and documentary screenings, a tour of the Kastro area, guided tours of important cultural sites of Lesvos and a photography exhibition hosted in the new buildings of the Department of Sociology. These activities contributed to the connection of the scientific experience with the history, culture and identity of the place.
