Special Topics in Sociological Theory and Social Research [Seminar]

The aim of the seminar is to explore in depth the topic of the basic cultural directions and orientations of the West: Christian, Gnostic, and Chthonian as they have been analyzed by Edward Tiryakian (see “Three Metacultures”), a key work for understanding the fundamental cultural patterns that shape human experience. The seminar will focus on Tiryakian’s basic concepts and critical analyses, cultivating critical thinking and promoting dialogue on the diachronic and intercultural dimensions of these cultural phenomena.
