The course “Formation and Principles of Modernity” focuses on the development and foundational elements of the modern period in history. Starting from its roots in the late medieval years, the course examines the key social, political, economic, and intellectual changes that shaped the modern world. Some of the key topics that will be covered are: The rise of science and reason, The development of individualism and freedom, The industrial revolution and capitalism, The emergence of the nation-state, social and political movements, and cultural changes.
