The Practical Training (PT) aims to directly connect the theoretical and laboratory studies of students with the practical application of their knowledge in organizations that operate in the workplace and require the utilization of this scientific knowledge.
More general goal The aim of both the course and the program is to highlight and utilize students' knowledge through the disciplines of Sociology and social science more broadly. This utilization of knowledge takes place in a real work environment in the social sector, but also in organizations to which social sciences can contribute significantly and support activities with modern scientific resources. A critical point in the design is the integration of new trends and needs of the labor market and the demand for specific specialties and skills of students participating in the Study Programs offered by the Department of Sociology.
According to the specifications set during the planning phase, the Internship Program serves, on the one hand, the educational needs of the Curriculum of the Department of Sociology, on the other hand, actions that connect the educational work with the knowledge of issues that arise within professional spaces that promote social science and the employment sectors they treat. Furthermore, it was designed in such a way that it aims at a more substantial assimilation of scientific knowledge through the process of professional scientific practice, at the cultivation of favorable conditions for the creative encounter and coupling of different scientific disciplines, but also at the encouragement of the initiative and professional resourcefulness of the intern students.
The Department of Sociology participates in the institutional project «"University of the Aegean Internship for the academic years 2024-2025, 2025-2026 and 2026-2027" with MIS Code 6022449 as part of the "Human Resources and Social Cohesion 2021-2027" Program and the "Education & Lifelong Learning" Priority, which is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
