The course offers specialized knowledge in the scientific field of Demography, within the broader context of Social Sciences and more specifically Sociology. With reference to the basic aspects and dimensions of demography, the aim of the course is to present the most modern scientific approaches to the collection, analysis and presentation of demographic data, the interpretation of the results from their processing and the evaluation of the factors that contribute to the formation and evolution of a population and its different structures. As a result of the educational objectives, students are expected to understand the main issues related to the subject of social demography, while being able to know the basic concepts, as well as to utilize the prevailing theories, the sources of demographic data, the tools and methods of demographic analysis. By the end of the course, participants will have acquired skills in accessing basic sources of primary data, managing demographic indicators, and implementing methods and techniques of demographic analysis. It is also expected to develop in-depth abilities in interpreting and predicting current conditions, as well as future demographic challenges.
