The course examines the theoretical approaches of the sociological analysis of deviance with a focus on youth. In particular, students of the course will delve into both the causal approaches of deviant behavior within the framework of positivist criminology and the theoretical approaches of critical criminology, with special reference to victimology. In addition, the course outlines the institutional framework and anti-crime policies in Greece and internationally through specific case studies. At the same time, and within the context of the course's focus on youth, the understanding and functional use of concepts and methodological tools will be sought in relation to issues such as the prevention and treatment of juvenile delinquency. The emphasis of the course will be given to specific issues of youth protection and mainly to issues of drug addiction and deviant behavior.
