The course develops students' conversation with the theoretical approaches, research and applications of the Sociology of the Arts, at the levels of knowledge, skills and abilities. After completing the courses, students will be able to:
- to have knowledge and understanding of the historical depth and scientific scope of the Sociology of the Arts,
- understand the multifaceted relationships between Art, Society and Culture,
- understand and apply theories and methodologies in approaching artistic phenomena and culture,
- to know and connect the Sociology of the Arts with other vital fields of social life and their careers (education, work, inequalities, collective action, research, law, etc.),
- to collect and interpret scientific data regarding art and culture and to form reflection and criticism on social, political, scientific and ethical issues,
- to use knowledge and skills to continue studies and training in issues of research and applications of sociology and social sciences in their arts, culture and policies,
- to understand the policies developed in culture and the arts, their operation, rationale, goals, evaluation and theoretical origins,
- understand and evaluate collaborative, participatory, socially engaged, collective, community art forms,
- to understand and know based on scientific evidence, as well as empathy and experiential learning.
