Contemporary Social History is an interdisciplinary field of study that focuses on the study of social transformations from modernity to the present day, emphasizing the experiences, relationships and practices of social groups and classes throughout historical time. The subject examines in particular the historical evolution of social structures, institutions, social movements, forms of everyday life and inequalities, highlighting the dynamics of social change. Within the framework of a historical approach with a social orientation, Contemporary Social History is closely linked to the theoretical and empirical research of Sociology, offering historical depth and studying the social mutations and stratifications in the formation of contemporary societies. In this context, an attempt is made to understand the concepts and pragmatic conditions surrounding social, economic, political and ideological developments, as well as critical ethical and political issues. The study is based on the use of archives, oral testimonies, statistical and demographic data and cultural representations, in order to highlight invisible aspects of social subjects. Contemporary Social History approaches the past as socially constructed and analytically useful for understanding the present, contributing to the formation of critical historical consciousness and social interpretive competence in students of the social sciences.
